Westlife and Chic’s 2001 hit single You Make Me Want To Be A Man. This is one of their biggest single in terms of chart sales, to date and take a moment and admire that stunning shot of the band being dragged off a stage by a giant trampoline. Probably the only image more iconic than that of these four singing stars was the explosion of bubbles that accompanied their appearance on Top of the Pops in 2002.

A Number 1 for Westlife in 2003, a cover of Kiki Dee’s 1983 Number 4 hit Does Your Mother Know. Westlife and their Top 3 best friend Bob Marley might be protesting slightly too much about the cover given the fact that the original has a reggae vibe to it but for this reason the whole song sounds eerily like a modern reworking of Queen’s She’s A Whirlwind.

One of Westlife’s favourites in an album full of them, Beautiful Day can’t fail to put a smile on your face. This upbeat ballad is another for the many fans of tribute songs as it is in fact an homage to Elvis with a conscious message about the plight of domestic violence in Ireland. Amazingly, for a cover version, it went straight into the Number 1 spot. For some songs though, we have included ‘Loves Music’, which pretty much sums up Westlife’s career thus far, in an excellent Top 20 here.

The ultimate tribute to the band is their 2009 cover of Busted’s Bedroom eyes. A hardcore fan will tell you that they covered Heartbreakradio sooo many times. Taking a leaf out of their book this is Westlife’s take on the theme of heartbreak. We have to admit that we really rather liked it and arguably their biggest hit of all time.

Packed with the kind of sweeping acoustic, rock and ballads that endeared the band to their millions of fans worldwide, Westlife’s second compilation is filled with tracks which the Irish rockers left off the 1997 debut album, charting hits such as Where We Are, Close My Eyes, He’s So Gay, The Rose and Cry Me A River.
The song from their Christmas single of the same name which was released in December 1999 was originally a featured song on the Dance Or Die compilation album and peaked at number one in the UK singles chart. It was later released as a double A-side single with They Only Kill Their Masters.
The album with its six track lineup of songs from their previous albums including Cry Me A River and her previous single Where We Are, is adorned with three cover versions of Amy Grant and Vince Gill songs, one with Westlife and one of them with the Irish boy band, Boyzone.
The album is one of the first 21st century album to be certified Platinum in the United States, with 2 million units sold to date. It was released on November 3rd 1998 and its lead single, Where We Are charted at Number one in the UK for six weeks.
The first single from the album was their fourth Number 1 single of their career and was actually the second single from the soundtrack of the 1998 movie, Air Force One, where the song was featured in a car chase scene. The single is a cover version of the Irish band, The Corrs song, Thousand Islands. The single was originally released in December 1997 and was a Number 1 hit in the UK for three weeks.
In 2014, the band was forced to cancel an Australian tour to undergo surgery for L5-S1 spinal fusion surgery in order to enable the Waymouths to stand during their concerts. Leading up to that album, the band were one of the few remaining acts playing arenas, because they had successfully converted from the traditional concert format to playing arena shows to get an entry into the UKs T in the Park festival. Their last live show was at Glasgows Bellahouston Park, before having to pull out, due to the aforementioned surgery. They played the tour to raise awareness for spinal injury, after the loss of their step-father in 2013. The album was released in August 2014, and was given a generally positive critical reception.
