Justice League was a box office success, grossing $657 million worldwide.[4] The film received generally positive reviews from critics,[5] who praised the film’s action sequences and the performances of the lead actors,[6] although it was criticized for dragging on the story line[7] and for the lack of chemistry between Batman and Wonder Woman.[8]
Justice League is based on the DC Comics characters of the same name, created by writer William Moulton Marston and artist Harry G. Peter, and was directed by Zack Snyder, who had previously directed the 2004 film Superman Returns. Snyder stated: “I don’t think you can assume that the superhero genre is going to continue to go as it has traditionally. To try to explain it to fans of that genre, it’s very hard for them to understand why a comic-book hero would want to do anything more than they’ve always done, because they’ve never challenged themselves. It’s not like those worlds were never explored before. It’s just that this genre of movie has been very traditional in terms of who the heroes are.
